Phyll Opoku-Gyimahh

Phyll Opoku-Gyimah, born 1974 also known as Lady Phyll. She is a British Ghanaian LGBTQ+ rights activist and co-founder of UK Black Pride, the largest celebration of LGBTQ+ people of African, Asian, Caribbean, Latin American, and Middle Eastern descent in Europe.

Are you superstitious? Not consciously. I don’t believe when I have broken a mirror I have 7 years bad luck. However I do throw salt over my left shoulder when I spill it. No fear of the number 13 or Friday the 13th or black cats.

Tetty Roozendaal

Gracia Emanuela Sprok

Gracia Emanuela Sprok (b. 18th century). She was an Afro-Surinamese woman who fought for her freedom in the Netherlands. Originally enslaved, she successfully sued for her emancipation in 1795, making her one of the few known Black women in Dutch history to legally challenge slavery and win.
