Aisha Bowe born in 1986, on 4/14/2025 became the first Bahamian to travel in space.

May Ayim (1960–1996), a poet, educator, and activist. She was a key figure in the Afro-German movement and co-edited Farbe bekennen (Showing Our Colors), one of the first books to document the history and experiences of Black Germans.

Hans-Jürgen Massaquoi (1926–2013). Liberian and German and grew up in Nazi Germany as one of the very few Black children. In the US he became a journalist and the managing editor of Ebony magazine. His memoir, “Destined to Witness”, provides a rare perspective on being Black in Nazi Germany.
