Black History Month in the UK

in October 2024, the UK celebrated Black History Month with a focus on “reclaiming narratives” to correct historical inaccuracies and highlight the contributions of Black Britons. Events included the unveiling of a blue plaque in West Kensington, London, honoring influential Black figures such as Jomo Kenyatta and Malcolm X.

Question I hate to be asked

What is one question you hate to be asked? Explain. “How’s your day going?” It’s a learned perfunctory question that really is rhetorical. Folks asking aren’t really interested or listening for a true response other than the perfunctory “good, and yours?” And I don’t know how to give an honest meaningful answer to a stranger.
