Melissa Arnette Elliott born 7/1/71 in Portsmith, Virginia.

She was an only child.

She was also known as Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott.

She collaborated with Timbaland.

She was in Sista and Swing Mob.

She wrote for Aaliyah, S.W.V., Sean Puffy Combs and Raven-Symone’s debut single.

Her debut album in 1997, Supa Dupa Fly debuted at number three on Billboard 200, the highest charting debut for a female rapper at that time.

She was in a Gap commercial with Madonna.

In 2005 she had a reality show on UPN, The Road to Stardom with Missy Elliott.

She was diagnosed with Graves disease.

She won the Grammy Award for Best Female Rap Solo Performance.
