Born William Goldwyn Nunn III, surise 10/20/53 Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, sunset 9/24/16 from leukemia.

Went to Morehouse with Spike Lee.

His dad was a scout for the Steelers.

His film debut was in 1998 in School Daze by Spike Lee. He is better known for his role as Radio Raheem in Do the Right Thing.

He had a theatre outreach project.

He was over 6:3” tall, reports vary, 6’31/2”, 6’4”.

He had two kids and one grandchild.

He originally wanted to be a writer.

His advice on becoming an actor:

“If you want to be an actor, you should just get out there and do it. I don’t go for the approach of first getting photos and an agent. I think you should start with the work, and the other stuff will follow. As with opportunity knocks, you have to be ready.”

On the deaths by police of his character Radio Raheem and Eric Garner and countless real life folks he said:

“You know you’re watching a guy lose his life. . . . For me, I’m just getting a little tired of watching these mothers on television, these poor mothers grieving their sons and children. It makes me wonder sometimes about where the compassion is.”
